Salon Specials

Salons are always a safe bet when it comes to important occasions or long-term nail care. The manicurists are (generally) trained to a high standard and will know the best way to get the most from your nails.

The range of treatments available depends generally on which salon you go to; however, there are some basic options which most salons will offer, such as a manicure (French or otherwise), pedicure (for super-stylish toes) and applications of nail extensions. Manicures and pedicures are probably the most popular choices. Nail extensions are favourites with people who want their nails to be a feature for a special event, or for the more unfortunate people whose work/hobbies don't allow them to have long nails normally.

Prices for salons, like available treatments, vary. If you live in an expensive area of the country, the chances are your local salons will charge accordingly. There is also the general belief that an expensive salon produces better results... and sadly, most of the time this is true. This is certainly the case for the high street chains such as Nails Inc and The Nail Bar, although individual salons work to different quality standards. However, expect to pay between £15 and £20 for a manicure and you can't go far wrong. Extensions run to the tune of around £7 per nail.

If you choose nail extensions, always check with the salon which types they are offering. The two main options are MMA and GEL: the former is much tougher but is much more damaging to your nails; GEL nails are more flexible and realistic. They both cost around the same price, so if at all possible aim for GEL extensions.
